Generally few stakeholders know the intermodal solutions, whatever their supporting transport mode or their area of operation. Answering to training needs, those supports give a clear illustration of intermodal issues and can easily be integrated into existing training curricula. They could help the trainees/ professionals to spot their shortcomings in terms of acquaintance of the intermodal services.
The training tools have been defined and developed by the AFT in cooperation with the ITS-IT project’s team.
Those supports follow a logical progression, testing different types of knowledge and call for different types of know-how.
The online intermodal MCQ aims at testing basic intermodal transport knowledge.
The Italy-Spain and the Belgium-the Netherlands case studies consist in describing and evaluating transports chains to identify the most relevant one on those particular cases.
The France-Spain case study aims at bringing the “Viacombi trainees” along the different essential steps of the transport solution decision.
To go further: the France-Germany case study analyses how to arbitrate between financial criteria and the client will and how environmental dimensions can be a chief criterion in the decisions taken. The other viacombi sections will be useful to: chose the best alternative to the only road solution, find the distance in km, find the schedules and calculate CO2 emissions.
